“Enjoy every moment in Seoul”
Seoul is the capital city, and by far the largest metropolis of South Korea. Seoul is a vibrant city that is home to more than 9.9 million residents. Seoul is known for its marvelous historical sites such as the royal palace and shrines co-existing with the modern architecture and skyscrapers.
Seoul is also known for its convenient public transportation system. With its straightforward subway system with 9 different lines covering all corners of Seoul, and bus and taxis operating all night, it is easy to get around Seoul and be wherever you need to be right on time.
There is a mix of appreciation for the old traditions and culture, and a desire for change that embraces the technological advances coming. Whatever your pleasure, you will be able to find it while in Seoul, from royal palaces and oriental herbal medicine to popular restaurants and night spots, from huge markets to underground shopping malls, from museums and temples to lush green parks. What happens when I arrive at my program destination?
When you arrive at your destination, you will be greeted at the airport. Our local team will take you to the volunteer accommodation.
Before beginning your volunteer program, you will attend a program orientation which is hosted by the local team to give you an introduction to the local culture, safety advice, transport options, rules and expectations, your placement and weekend travel opportunities.
Our local team is available 24/7 to provide support to you during your volunteer program.
Will I be working with other volunteers?
The number of other volunteers varies by program and time of year. Some programs may host dozens of volunteers at the same time, while on others there may only be two or three other volunteers.
Can I go traveling or sightseeing during the weekend of my volunteer program?
Sure! You will have your free time and weekends available to explore more of Korea. Our local team will be happy to provide recommendations for trips that you can take.
Do I need to be able to speak the local language?
For the most part, volunteers are generally only required to speak English to participate in our program. But if you are interested in Korean and want to learn the basics of Korean, please let our staff know. We have a Korean class too. The more you can speak and converse in the local language, the more you will be able to immerse yourself into the program and local culture!
