“Helping people help themselves”
Big Issue magazine is a famous global organization that helps homeless people sell the famous street magazine
in effort to share the profits with them, giving them financial benefits and allowing them to recover financially without losing their dignity.
However, it takes some courage to start working as Big Issue magazine sales person,
not to mention that it is exhausting standing in bussy streets for hours shouting, “Big Issue!”
The volunteers will help the salesperson by shouting out catch phrases and simply by being there with them.
Your help in selling these magazines do make a big difference.
The magazine is sold at the exits of major subway stations in Seoul.
You can chose to participate in the program in various venues, all very hip and trendy places of Seoul.

What happens when I arrive at my program destination?
When you arrive at your destination, you will be greeted at the airport. Our local team will take you to the volunteer accommodation.
Before beginning your volunteer program, you will attend a program orientation which is hosted by the local team to give you an introduction to the local culture, safety advice, transport options, rules and expectations, your placement and weekend travel opportunities.
Our local team is available 24/7 to provide support to you during your volunteer program.
Will I be working with other volunteers?
The number of other volunteers varies by program and time of year. Some programs may host dozens of volunteers at the same time, while on others there may only be two or three other volunteers.
Can I go traveling or sightseeing during the weekend of my volunteer program?
Sure! You will have your free time and weekends available to explore more of Korea. Our local team will be happy to provide recommendations for trips that you can take.
Do I need to be able to speak the local language?
For the most part, volunteers are generally only required to speak English to participate in our program. But if you are interested in Korean and want to learn the basics of Korean, please let our staff know. We have a Korean class too. The more you can speak and converse in the local language, the more you will be able to immerse yourself into the program and local culture!
